Bradford-on-Avon Walking Wheel (spokes 7 and 8) – 15.7.20
Exploring the wheel again ..
Bradford-on-Avon Walking Wheel (Inner Circle) – 23.6.20
Well it’s been a while for obvious reasons but we finally got out for a walk. This is part of the Bradford-on-Avon walking wheel which consists of an inner and outer circle connected by 8 radiating ‘spokes’. The inner circle is 5.7 miles and takes in the outskirts of BoA town. You can buy a laminated map of the whole wheel at BoA library or tourist information. The routes are marked very well by colour co-ordinated markers on lamp-posts etc.
Marshfield – 28.1.18
A 4.8 mile walk starting and ending in Marshfield Village
This walk started in the village of Marshfield and after crossing the A420 it followed lanes and footpaths across very muddy fields to reach the village of West Littleton with its very attractive church with a 13th century turret and bellcote. The return to Marshfield passed Castle farm with its turreted farmhouse – very unusual. The views over the rolling Cotswold hills were something of a teaser given the mist and low cloud but on a clear day would have been spectacular.
Doynton – 13.8.17
A 5.5 mile walk starting and ending in Doynton
This walk started from the car park of the sadly closed pub in Doynton and went through woods and fields before skirting Dyrham Park and heading back to Doynton. The steep hills were well worth the effort as, combined with glorious weather, the reward was far reaching views stretching as far as the Severn bridge.
Ebbor Gorge – second prewalk 16.7.17
This is now the offical route for the walk we will be leading on 30.7.17 It’s a 5 mile circular route with quite a bit of climbing (worth it for the spectacular views) and lots of woodland steps. For more photos of this route see our previous post and if you want to join the walk see here for details
Box – 26.2.17
Box Re-visited
If you want to see this walk in a different light have a look at the pictures from last July when we walked it previously.
This walk was a repeat of last July’s except for the weather and there were no wild flowers in the meadow. That was more than compensated for by the displays of spring flowers – especially snowdrops which seemed to be everywhere. The rain kindly held off until the walk was finished although it was clearly on its way. This really is a delightful walk with good views and interesting buildings along the way.
